INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE DESIGN IV
EXPERIENCING LOCAL - A CRAFTED SPIRIT
Once again coming into IDP( Interior Design Project) green as ever. The themed focus of our projects for this semester is local based, where we champion the idea of Experiencing Local- to Malaysia. oF the many aspects the one thing that I was aimed on doing was Food because you know...ITS FOOD! And i really love food. Except vegetables. I hate 'em. So the get our motors running we were tasked with the first assignment to project on to a mood board our findings of our chosen local product. More importantly to discover what makes it so "Malaysian".

My process began by finding its origin. In all honesty, I really hate the object that was chosen because even after undergoing through comprehensive research and brain cracking, I still could not interest myself in wood. More specifically driftwood. I mean yes it has natrual beauty and all but I guess my heart was set on food. Nevertheless I performed my best in presenting this Moodboard. I broke down the fundamentals; from its historical and legendary significance, to its relation to design. Where by I deduced voids, lines , curves and characteristics that could be applied in the final stages of its development.
SITE STUDY & EXPLORATION
It was convenient that when I wanted food the most is when they send me to the very street market with my cravings. To me that was beautiful for I got the best of both worlds. Indulging myself in my pleasures while not forgetting the purpose of the trip. To conduct a SITE STUDY & its RELEVANCE TO OUR START-UP GARAGE for our final. I was part of the site context team where we payed attention to the details of our surroundings, much like environmental psychology. We made our observation on the area, community as well as its condition. The initial stages proved to be a challenge having to identify the similar elements from the gathered info.
ELEGANT TITLE
Here is a comparsison between our two boards. The board above was what we felt embodied the site. With its coloured dark history and activities, we didi our best to replicate the feel and the expression onto the board. But because it was deemed unfit interms of unity with the other teams we needed to redesign and bring it up to standard as seen below.
FINAL PRESENTATION
The final project proved to be the hardest I've come so far. It is through this process that I got a glipmse of reality of being a designer. The struggles that I felt really brought me to the edge was not the process of conceptualizing but realizing its design within the given space. Having to measure and understand the necessary requirements of the activity in the space. It was only after revising my plans and functions after 6 times was I only able to be satisfied with the outcome but there was other factors to why that happened as well.

It is a semester where I had to learn to rely on new methods and solutions to fix problems that could have cost me work. A great example would be building my model from 3d printing. Believe me I was sceptical because if it failed it means there would be no model to show. Yet it turned out better that expected.

All in all a great end to an otherwise tiresome semester. It really taught me to take a deeper look into details that designers have to consider on preamped andon site.
