INTRODUCTION TO INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECTS
Human study gone weird
After having not touch any form of drawing tool in months, coming back to class was a mix of feelings as I did not know whether to feel overwhelmed or excited with the start of the degree. Nevertheless, those thoughts had to be put aside as we have received the first assignment for the week. We were required to apply what we have learned from the lecture on Anthropometry which is basically the study of the physical properties of the human body; dimension of body size and shape. Here is the first 12 daily activity.

From the poses, you can see that I have chosen simple actions that we can all relate to. Such as texting, eating, excreting, etc. I tried as much to mimic the pose in its essence as I converted the image to a sketch. Most of which I personally tried on. The hassle that I faced was getting the measurements as accurate as it can be.

On this image, I tested different poses that I thought would be extreme. The suggestion to change the item from a normal pants to a waste paper basket was to see it the challenge to perform the same poses would prove difficult or otherwise. As it turns out, it was about the same.

Here's another action that was inspired by an idea. Instead of sleeping on a regular chair or bed, the proposal was to sleep in a rubbish bin. At that point, I thought it was a peculiar action to try out; and i still think it is. Nevertheless, i tried it to see what the results would be like.

Lastly, 'The Hanging'. In my opinion, it is the pose that is most tiresome. having to rotate between each 'extreme' pose. All of which somehow looked familiar to me. Then I remembered, kids do this on a daily.
As per the brief, the drawings are scaled 1:20 because logically it would not be able to fit in.
Reflection :
From this human case study, I have learn to appreciate poses and actions. From the simplest to the most peculiar, it taught me to see it more than just a random act. Having input from my lecturers helped me to explore options beyond my comfort zone. Out of my ordinary. For instance, replacing wearing pants to putting on a waste basket. Anyways, the beginning of the lecture on ergonomics has in some ways intrigued me. Till next time.
